The benefits of food to the body is very essential and cannot be overemphasized. But before I outline the benefits of healthy food, I will define the term “Food”.

What is Food

Food can simply be defined as any nutritious substance people or animals can eat or drink. It can also be defined as any nutritious substance plants absorbs in order to maintain life and growth.

Food is defined as what people and animals eat to live or survive. Food is produced by animals and plants. It is that nutritious substance eaten by living things to provide energy and to nourish their bodies.

 How do you know your food is healthy?

Healthy food gives you all the necessary nutrients the body needs to have energy, feel good, and maintain good health. These nutrients include; protein, carbohydrate, fats and oil, water, vitamins, and minerals. These nutrients can be also grouped into macronutrients and micronutrients.

 Examples of healthy Food include

  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Apples
  • Almonds
  • Oatmeals
  • Whole grain
  • Blueberries
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Avocados

Leafy green vegetables

An example of leafy green vegetables can be spinach. Spinach contains antioxidants. Its nutrients include zinc, potassium, calcium, iron, copper, vitamins A, B-6, C, E and K, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium, and niacin.

Eggs

Eggs are a source of protein. It contains vitamin B-2 and B12 which helps in generating blood cells and preserving energy. Egg provides a good amount of choline, this helps the cell membranes. An egg is an essential amino acid leucine which helps to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

The yolk is the most essential part of the egg. It contains vitamins, minerals, fats, and cholesterol.

Fish

Oily fish is an example of healthy food. Other examples include anchovies, trout, salmon, herring, mackerel, and sardines. 

These types of fish have oil in their guts and oil in their tissues. It provides the body with fatty acids. This acid can help with inflammatory conditions like arthritis. These fatty acids are high in the level of vitamin A and D. It helps to reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis. It also provides benefits for the heart and nervous system.

Chicken

Chicken is another example of healthy food. It serves as an excellent source of protein.

Apples

Apples are a super source of antioxidants. The antioxidants in apples can reduce the risk of contracting a chronic disease.

Almonds

This provides the body with different kinds of nutrients which include fiber, vitamin, riboflavin, iron, and magnesium.

Oatmeals

Oats contain complex carbohydrates and water-soluble fiber. This helps your body stabilize the level of blood glucose. It can also slow down digestion.

Wholegrains

Whole grain contains the germ and bran. We also have the wheat germ which is the part of wheat that grows into a plant. Wheat germ is high in several vital nutrients like; folic acid, magnesium, fatty alcohols, fiber, vitamin E, phosphorus, thiamin, and acid.

Blueberries

This helps to prevent diseases and maintains good body function. It provides an essential amount of fiber, phytonutrients, and antioxidants.

Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes provide the body with vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, iron complex carbohydrate, and protein. It also has quality dietary fiber, vitamin A, B-6, vitamin C, and potassium.

Avocados

Avocados have improved nutrient absorption. It is very high in nutrient and very filling. It provides the body with healthy fats as well as vitamin B, K and E. Avocados are also good source of fibre.

What are the benefits of healthy food?

There are a lot of benefits to eating healthy food. But I will give a few benefits. Healthy food is very essential to the body. It is an excellent way to help the body strong and healthy.  It synchronizes and aligns our body cell.

  4. Healthy food keeps the body active, healthy and sensitive

  9. Healthy food ensures restful sleep
  10. Healthy food improves overall mood
  11. Healthy food helps the health of the next generation
  12. Healthy food reduces the risk of cancer
  13. Healthy food helps you manage a healthy weight

Finally, it is of course expensive to be unhealthy.
