Braids are so popular right now that if you told me you haven’t heard about them I might end up not believing you. That’s true but its also possible that some might not have heard about it. You might have seen it but you didn’t know what the name was. That’s cool. There are lots and lots of different braid styles that you might even get confused.
So in today’s post we are going to be seeing different braid styles (well the ones I have seen and heard about because I know there are lots more still unknown and upcoming).
For something that has lasted for centuries, braids are pretty incredible. Although the techniques are the same, there are different braid styles being created on a regular and more different techniques are being discovered. Amazing right?
Braids have a whole lot of advantage. To me, protective hairstyles are basically braids. Yes, so if you need a protective hairstyle you should go for a braid style that suits you. They are easy to make and last long too. A typical braid style could last for 6 – 8 weeks depending on how you maintain it. Don’t be discouraged, they are very easy to maintain.
Did you know that braids actually helps in growing out your hair? Well you know that now. A braid style could either be long or short or even colored. You could add accessories like beads to spice it up. Know this, its perfect for everyone including children. Now to the different braid styles.

Fulani braids or tribal braids are different from other braids in their techniques of making. They are basically known as beaded braids.

Cornrows are the most popular braid styles known in the history of braids. You can’t talk about braid styles without mentioning cornrows. I love cornrows because they are very easy to make and last long. Cornrows are made using the underhand method. They are made by braiding the hair closely to the scalp. It could be done with just the hair and also with hair extensions, the choice is yours.

Ghana Braids
Ghana braids are also called feed-in cornrows. They are made just like cornrows the only difference is that hair extensions are added bit by bit to create something beautiful.
Jumbo Braids
Jumbo braids are large braids. They are thicker in volume and actually look stylish.
